Que Paso con Apple? - What Happened with Apple?

Al fin me habia dado por vencida tratando de que esta persona me entendiera, asi que le pedi que me mandara el numero de telefono de una persona con la que yo pudiera hablar ya que el no lo podia hacer.  Una vez mas recibi su email con los detalles de las tres cuentas...

A los dos o tres dias me entro un email de Apple y habia un numero para ayuda con el iTouch...  llame y hable con un muchacho llamado Grabriel.  Le explique que habia pasado y empezo a tratar de ayudarme.  Eventualmente se puso a chatear con alguien de servicio al cliente para la tienda de iTunes y entre los dos me ayudaron a recuperar el numero de la tarjeta.  Estuvimos en el telefono como una hora (en lo que esperabamos para que el se comunicara con la otra persona, hablamos de la nieve y de eskiar), pero hicieron de todo para ayudarme, y ahora tengo mis $15 de vuelta y estoy feliz de ver que la no todas las personas son incompetentes.  Ya lo sabia, pero cuando uno anda de malas, todos parecen malos!!!

Lo que me salvo en todo esto, es que todavia tenia el recibo de cuando habia comprado las tarjetas, y con los numeros en el recibo, lograron encontrar la informacion.

Yo se que el nunca va a leer esto, pero UN MILLON DE GRACIAS GABRIEL EN COLORADO!

I had finally given up trying to get this person to understand me, so I asked him/her to send me the number to speak to a person that could help me, since he wasn't able to.  Once again, I got an email with all the details about the three accounts...

Two or three days later, I got an email from Apple with a number for iTouch support...  I called and spoke with a guy named Gabriel.  I explained what had happened and he tried to help me.  Eventually he started chatting with somebody from iTunes Store Support, and the two of them helped me get back my gift card number.  We spent an hour on the phone (while we waited for the support person, we chatted about the snow and skiing), but they did everything they could to help me, and now I have my $15 back, and I'm very happy to see that not every person is incompetent.  I knew it, but when you are in a bad mood, everyone is evil!!!

What saved me, was the fact that I still had the receipt for the gift cards, and with the numbers on it, they were able to find the information.

I know that he will never read this, but A MILLION THANKS GABRIEL FROM COLORADO!

Servicio al Cliente de Apple, en serio??? - Apple Customer Service, seriously???

Para Navidad, recibi un iTouch y una tarjeta de iTunes de $15.  Estaba muy contenta de que al fin tenia uno y unos dias despues de Navidad me puse a crear my cuenta.  Meti la informacion de la tarjeta, verifique que estaba en la cuenta, la tire a la basura y empece a tratar de aprender a usar mi iTouch.

Como una semana mas tarde, decidi comprar una cancion, y  mas tarde me llego un email diciendome que 99 centavos habian sido cargados a mi tarjeta de credito.  Eso me parecio raro porque tenia la tarjeta de regalo, asi que me meti a mi cuenta y la tarjeta habia desaparecido!  Como soy nueva con todo esto, pense que talvez no estaba buscando en el lugar correcto, asi que decidi contactar a Apple.

Estaba esperando una respuesta como esta:  Si, puedo ver que la semana pasada tenia una tarjeta de regalo, pero de repente su total es $0.00.  Dejeme ver que puedo hacer...

Nunca me imagine que unos dias mas tarde iba a estar a punto de somatar mi cabeza contra el escritorio cada vez que leo uno de sus emails.  Mark sugirio que talvez una computadora esta contestando mis emails, pero ni una computadora podria ser tan estupida!!!

Aqui estan los emails que me estan haciendo perder el juicio... (estoy traduciendolos de la mejor manera posible)

Recibi un iTouch y una tarjeta de $15 dolares como regalo.  Cuando crie mi cuenta de iTunes, yo puse la informacion de la tarjeta de regalo y la de mi tarjeta de credito.  Acabo de comprar una cancion y mi tarjeta de credito fue cargada.  Cuando me meti a mi cuenta, no pude encontrar ningun record de mi tarjeta de regalo de iTunes.

Que necesito hacer para encontrarla en mi cuenta?  Y, que necesito hacer para que mis compras sean sacadas de la tarjeta de regalo en vez de mi tarjeta de credito?

Esta es una respuesta automatizada, pero un representante de la tienda de iTunes va a revisar su pedido y le va a mandar una respuesta personal pronto (generalmente dentro de las proximas 48 horas)...

Y despues vino la respuesta del representante...

Carmen , despues de un poco de investigacion,  he descubierto que tiene multiples cuentas en la tienda de iTunes, y que ha estado haciendo compras con una cuenta que no tiene credito disponible.  Aqui esta la lista de sus cuentas:

3) m...@...

"g...@y..." es la cuenta que tiene $0.00 de credito disponible.

"d...@..." es la cuenta que tiene $14.41 de credito disponible. Para usar este credito, tiene que meterse a la tienda de iTunes con el nombre de esta cuenta.

"m...@..." es la cuenta que tiene $11.85 de credito disponible. Para usar este credito, tiene que meterse a la tienda de iTunes con el nombre de esta cuenta.

No es posible transferir credito de una cuenta de iTunes a otra.  Una vez el credito ha sido agregado a una cuenta, solo se puede usar en esa cuenta.

Aqui el email continuaba con informacion de como poder usar mis compras en varias computadoras, y terminaba con:

Gracias por su interes en iTunes; Apple aprecia su lealtad.

Gracias por su rapida respuesta.  Tiene razon acerca de las tres cuentas...  una es mia, y las otras dos son de mis hijos.  Los tres recibimos tarjetas de regalo, pero la mia fue puesta en mi cuenta (g...@...) el dia que yo abri mi cuenta, asi que el dinero en las otras cuentas es aparte.

Estoy muy enojada, porque yo puse la informacion de la tarjeta de regalo y ahora no tengo el credito y ya no tengo la tarjeta de regalo (ya que estaba en la cuenta).  Hay algo que yo pueda hacer?

Yo creo que usted no entendio mi email.  No estoy nada contenta con Apple en este momento!  Yo puse una tarjeta de $15 en mi cuenta y ahora no aparece!!!  Yo quiero que resuelva esto inmediatamente!  Soy un cliente nuevo y hasta el momento mi experiencia ha sido muy frustrante.  Le he mandado dos emails preguntandole que se puede hacer con el dinero que se ha desaparecido y usted no ha contestado mis preguntas.
Yo espero que el proximo email diga que el dinero ha sido puesto en mi cuenta, porque Apple quiere conservar a un nuevo cliente.

I got an iTouch and a $15 iTunes gift card for Christmas.  I was very happy to finally have one and a couple of days latter created an account.  I entered the gift card, verified that it was there, threw it away, and started trying to figure out how to use my iTouch.

About a week later, I decided to buy a song, and later on received an email telling me that 99 cents had been charged to my credit card.  I thought that was weird since I had a gift card, so I logged into my account, and now my gift card is gone!  I am new to this, so I thought that I was not looking for it in the correct place, and decided to contact Apple.

I was expecting an answer along the lines of:  Yes, I can see where you had a gift card last week, but suddenly your balance is $0.00.  Let me see what I can do...

I never expected that a few days later I was going to be close to banging my head against my desk every time I read one of their emails.  Mark suggested that a computer may be answering my emails, but even a computer couldn't be this stupid!!!

Here are the emails that are slowly making me lose my mind!!!

I got an iTouch and a $15 gift card as a gift.  When I signed up for iTunes I put in the info for the gift card and my credit card.  I just bought a song and my CC was charged.  When I signed in to my account, I can't find any record of the iTunes gift card.
What do I need to do to find it in my account?  And, what do I need to do so any purchases get deducted from the gift card instead of my CC?

The first answer I got, was an email that started with:

And then came the answer from the representative...

I'm sorry to hear that you've been unable to use your store credit. I certainly understand your concern to have this issue resolved.

Carmen , after some investigation, I've discovered that you have multiple iTunes Store accounts and that you have been making purchases with an account that does not have store credit. Here is a list of your accounts:

"g...@y..." is the account that has $0.00 of store credit available.

Thank you for your prompt response.  You are correct about the 3 accounts...  one is mine, and the other two belong to my kids.  All of us got gift cards, but mine was entered into my account (g...@...) the day that I created the account, so the money in the other accounts is separate.

I am very upset, because I entered the gift card information and now I don't have any credit and I got rid of the gift card (since I had already put it on my account).  Is there anything I can do?

I think that you misunderstood my email.  I am not the least bit happy with Apple right now!  I entered a $15 gift card into my account, and it has somehow disappeared!!!  I want this corrected right away!  I am a first time customer and my experience so far has been very frustrating.  I have sent two emails to you asking what to do about the missing money, and you have not answered my questions.
I expect the next email to tell me that the money has been put into my account, because Apple is trying to keep this new customer.

Tae Kwon Do

Matt y De han participado en todo tipo de deportes, pero Brandon no podia encontrar uno que le gustara...  Lo metimos a fut y lloraba todo el tiempo no le gusto, asi que no lo volvimos a meter.  Despues decia que queria jugar basket, pero cada vez que llegaba la hora de inscribirlo, decia que lo tenia que pensar y que hay nos avisaba...  Un dia, al fin decidio que queria meterse a karate, asi que Mark lo llevo a un lugar cerca de la casa y ahora el deporte de Brandon es Tae Kwon Do.  Lo ha estado practicando por dos años y ahora tiene un cinturon super cafe (super quiere decir que el cinturon cafe tiene un linea blanca enmedio, y que es un nivel mas alto que el cafe).  El acaba de tener un examen y el viernes va a recibir su cinturon rojo...  Estamos muy orgullosos!

El llevarlo a practica me ha hecho pensar en lo lejos que los papas llegan cuando sus hijos practican un deporte.  Hay dos papas (salieron en la esquina de la foto) que llegan a las practicas y no pueden mantener la boca cerrada.  Constantemente estan corrigiendo a sus hijos, dandoles "consejos", gritandoles cosas, etc.  Hace un par de dias, en la clase se dedicaron a jugar y estos adultos empezaron a gritar que alguien estaba haciendo trampa...  De veras???  No tienen nada mejor que hacer, que preocuparse porque algun niño de 8 años esta haciendo trampa y eso hace que sus hijos no ganen?

He sufrido en fut, basebol y basket con los papas que tienen que no pueden cerrar la boca, pero estos son los peores!

Lo bueno es Brandon va a subir the nivel, asi que ya no va a estar en la misma clase que estos niños!!!

Matt and De have played all kinds of sports, but Brandon couldn't find his... We signed him up for soccer and he cried all the time didn't like it, so we didn't sign up again. Then he started talking about playing basketball, but every time that we were ready to sign him up, he would tell us that he needed to think about it and would let us know...  One day, he decided that he wanted to do Karate, so Mark took him to a place near our house and now his sport is Tae Kwon Do.  He has been doing it for two years and he is now a super brown belt (the super part means that there is a white stripe through the brown and is one belt higher than brown).  He just had his latest belt testing and he is going to get his red belt on Friday... We are very proud!

Taking him to practice has made me think about the lengths that some people go when their kids do a sport.  There are two dads (they made it to the corner of the picture) that come to practice and can't keep their mouth shut.  They are constantly correcting their kids, giving them "advice", yelling stuff, etc.  A couple of days ago, the kids were mostly playing games during class and this grown men kept yelling that somebody was cheating...  Seriously???  They have nothing better to do, but worry about some 8 year old that is cheating, so their kid is not number one?

I have suffered through loud mouths in soccer, baseball and basketball, but this is the worst!

On the positive side, Brandon will be moving to a different level, so they won't be in the same class anymore!!!

Año Nuevo - New Year

Para mi el quedarme levantada hasta las 12 es algo que hago cada año, pero es una celebracion bastante tranquila.  Mas que todo me parece algo triste, porque otro año se ha acabado, y parece como que dentro de mas pasan los años, mas rapido se van.

Por supuesto que tengo muchas cosas que celebrar...  todos estamos bien de salud, tengo al esposo perfecto (aunque lo regaño bastante para que no se lo vaya a creer) y mis hijos son extraordinarios.  Esto no quiere decir que no tengamos nuestras cosas y nuestros momentos, pero en general, no podria tener mas suerte.

Podria tener resoluciones, pero creo que es mejor ir cambiando cuando es necesario, y no tratar de hacerlo todo una vez al año.



Staying awake until midnight is something I do every year, but it is a pretty quiet celebration.  I actually find it kind of sad, because another year has ended, and it seems that as the years go by, they go faster.

Of course, I have many things to celebrate...  we are all healthy, I have the perfect husband (I still give him a hard time quite a bit so he doesn't start believing it) and my kids are extraordinary.  This doesn't mean that we don't have our things and moments, but in general, I couldn't be any luckier.

I could come up with resolutions, but I think that it is better to change as needed and not try it all once a year.

El Tren - The Train

Una noche salimos a cenar y cuando ibamos de regreso para el carro, iba pasando el tren.  La linea del tren pasa justo al lado del centro comercial donde estabamos.

Me encanta verlo y sobre todo oirlo.  Cuando me toca parar porque va cruzando la carretera, siempre bajo mi ventana del carro para oirlo mas fuerte.  Muchas noches tengo la suerte de que cuando me voy a acostar y la casa esta callada, puedo oirlo en la distancia.  Primero el pito y despues el sonido de las ruedas sobre la linea...  Un mi gran sueño seria porder tomar un viaje en tren.  Algo donde pueda ver el paisaje desde mi ventana durante el dia, y en la noche pueda quedarme dormida con el movimiento y el sonido del tren.

El abuelito de Mark trabajo en el tren y su papa tuvo un trabajo que tenia que ver con trenes.  Mark trabajo por varios veranos en la linea del tren cambiando los durmientes.  Tengo una lampara que me regalo mi suegro...  creemos que era del papa de el.  

Mi abuelito trabajo en el "ferrocarril" por muchos años, asi que estoy convencida de que lo llevo en la sangre!  

Sera que mis hijos tambien?

One night we went out to dinner and on our way back to the car, the train was going by.  The tracks run next to the shopping center where we ate.

I love watching and listening to the train.  When I have to stop because the train is crossing the highway, I always put down my car window so I can hear it louder.  Many nights I have the luck that when I go to bed and the house is really quiet, I can hear the train in the distance.  First the whistle and then the sound of the wheels on the track...  A big dream of mine would be to take a train trip.  Something where I can see the view from my window during the day, and at night I can fall asleep with the movement and sound of the train.

Mark's grandfather worked on the train, and his dad had a job that involved trains...  Mark worked for many summers changing the railroad ties.  I even have a lantern that my father in law gave to me...  we think that it was his father's.  

My grandfather worked for the "railroad" for many year, and I'm convinced that it is in my blood!

Could it be in my kid's blood too?

El Dilema - The Dilemma

La semana pasada mis sobrinos vinieron de Guate. a pasar dos semanas con nosotros.  El avion aterrizo a las 12:05 de la mañana del viernes...  De se fue conmigo a traerlos al aeropuerto y los tuvimos que esperar por un gran rato.  En lo que esperabamos, De vio que habia un Starbucks cerca del area de espera y queria que le comprara algo de tomar.  Yo le dije que le compraba un chocolate caliente para niños (lo ultimo que ella necesitaba a esta hora era un monton de cafeina), y se lo fui a traer.

Llegue al mostrador y las dos personas que estaban trabajando me ignoraron por un buen rato.  Finalmente la muchacha me pregunto que queria y cuando le di mi orden, me dijo que el total era $2.21.  En lo que sacaba el dinero, me puse a pensar que esto me estaba costando casi mas de un dolar de lo que me cuesta en el Starbucks cerca de mi casa, pero me imagine que como estaba en el aeropuerto, los precios iban a ser mas altos.  Cuando pague, le mencione esto a la muchacha, y despues ella actuo como que habia cometido un error en la caja.  En lo que ella se fue a hacer el chocolate, yo me quede pensando en la diferencia de precio y en eso se me ocurrio chequear la lista de precios donde decia que este chocolate solo costaba $1.15.  Eso me dejo preguntandome por que me habia cobrado casi el doble!

Cuando ella regreso con el vaso, yo le pregunte acerca de la diferencia y su respuesta fue: "es el impuesto".  IMPUESTO???  Mas de un dollar de impuesto?  IMPOSIBLE!  Yo le trate de explicar esto varias veces, pero ella seguia con la misma respuesta.  Derrepente, ella decicio cambiar de respuesta...  Me dijo que ella me habia dado el tamaño "Tall" (no el de niños), el cual valia $2.68 y que solo me habia cobrado $2.21, asi que yo deberia de estar contenta.  En ese momento me enseño el recibo que no me habia dado, el cual habia sido el error que ella habia cometido anteriormente (ella puso el tamaño equivocado y me habia cobrado menos de lo que costaba ese tamaño).  Yo le explique que yo no habia ordenado un tall, sino que uno de niños, y que eso es por lo que yo deberia de estar pagando.  Estuvimos discutiendo de ida y vuelta mientras que ella me trataba de convencer que yo tenia suerte de que estaba pagando menos por el tamaño del chocolate.  Ella no sabia que yo soy una Perez, asi que yo no me iba a dar por vencida!  Cuando se dio cuenta de que su tactica no estaba funcionando, decidio regresar a la explicacion de que se debia al impuesto...

Ahora yo si ya estaba perdiendo la paciencia!  Su compañero de trabajo solo se paro al lado de ella, pero no hizo nada.  Ya se estaba haciendo una cola, y ella seguia tratando de convencerme!  Finalmente le dije:  "Es imposible que el impuesto sea mas de un dolar en algo que solo cuesta $1.15", "El impuesto es solo 5%".  Ella no se daba por vencida, asi que rapidito hice cuentas y me di cuenta de que el total deberia de haber sido $1.21.  Cuando le explique esto, ella finalmente se dio por vencida!  Fue a traer un estuche que tenia debajo de un mostrador, lo llevo a la caja y adentro yo vi varios billetes doblados.  Saco un dolar y me lo dio.

Aqui viene el dilema...  Que hago ahora?  Me contento con haber recuperado mi dolar, o llamo a Starbucks al dia siguiente?  Despues de todo, solo era un dolar, y estoy segura de que ella lo necesita mas que yo, y si yo me quejo puede ser que ella pierda su empleo...  PERO, ella esta robando, y si yo no digo nada, es como que si yo aprobara de sus acciones.  Yo tambien estoy convencida de que ella tiene una su buena estafa funcionando en este lugar...  Todos asumimos que las cosas son mas caras en un aeropuerto, asi que un dolar mas por una bebida no es algo incomprensible.  Cuantas personas creen ustedes que chequean el precio de la bebida que estan comprando?

Decidi esperarme el fin de semana para tomar una desicion...

Last week my nice and nephew came to visit from Guatemala.  Their plane landed at 12:05 am Friday...  De and I went to get them and had a long wait at the airport.  While waiting, De spotted a Starbucks right by the waiting area and wanted something to drink.  I told her that she could have a kid's hot chocolate (the last thing she needed at that time was a ton of caffeine), and went to get it.  

I arrived at the counter and the two people working there ignored me for a while, finally the woman asked me what I wanted and told me that it was $2.21.  I got my money thinking that this was almost a dollar more than I pay at the Starbucks by my house, but figured that since I was in an airport, the prices were higher.  I mentioned this to her as I paid, and she also acted like she made a mistake while ringing up the drink.  She went to make the drink and I kept wondering about the difference in price, so I looked at the board with the prices, and found out that the hot chocolate was only $1.15.  Now I'm wondering how I ended up paying almost twice as much!

As she returned with my drink, I asked her, and her answer was:  "it is the tax".  TAX???  Over $1 worth of tax?  IMPOSSIBLE!  I tried to explained this to her repeatedly and she stuck to her answer a few times.  Then she changed her tune...  She told me that she had given me a Tall (not a kid's size), which was worth $2.68, but she only charged me $2.21, so I should be happy.  I explained that I had ordered a kid's size and not a tall, so I should be paying for a kid's size.  We went back and forth with her trying to make me understand how lucky I was to get a price break on the tall hot chocolate.  She didn't realize that I am a Perez, which means that I wouldn't back down!  When her tactic didn't work, she decided to go back to the tax answer...

Now I'm really starting to lose my temper!  Her coworker stood next to her, and didn't get involved.  There is a line forming, and she is still trying to convince me!  I finally told her:  "It is impossible for the tax to be over $1 on something that is only $1.15", "Tax is only 5%".  She wasn't backing down, so I did some quick math in my brain and figured that the total should have been $1.21.  When I explained this, she finally gave up!  She went to the counter, and got a little zippered pouch from under it.  She brought it to the register, and I could see several bills folded up inside.  She got a dollar, and gave it back to me.

Now, here is the dilemma...  What should I do?  Should I be happy that I got my dollar, or should I contact Starbucks the following day?  It was only a dollar, and I'm sure that she needed it a whole lot more than I do, and if I complained she could potentially lose her job...  BUT, she is stealing, an if I keep quiet I am condoning her actions.  

I'm also convinced that this is a nice little scam that she is running...  We all assume that things are more expensive at the airport, so a dollar more for a drink is not unthinkable.  How many people do you think look up at the board and check the price?  

I gave myself the weekend to make a decision...

Patis - Patty

Mi hermana Patis es tres años mas chiquita que yo.  Cuando eramos chiquitas compartiamos el cuarto y constantemente nos peleabamos porque eramos completamente diferentes.  Yo siempre queria todo nitido y ella no siempre queria seguir mi ejemplo...

Mis recuerdos de nuestra infancia son algo opuestos...  Nos peleabamos como perros y gatos, pero tambien nos llevabamos bien, especialmente en la noche cuando hablabamos por un gran rato.  Nos imaginabamos un monton de cosas que nos gustaria tener, y le ibamos agregando cosas a ese sueño, hasta que terminabamos con algo ridiculo e imposible de tener!  Una de ellas era un camper que al final llego a tener dos pisos y una puerta corrediza en el cuarto principal, la cual se abria hacia un balcon donde caia nieve y teniamos nuestros San Bernardos.

Los años de la adolescencia fueron algo dificiles para la Patis porque trataba de no ser opacada por mi, y yo creo que a ella tampoco le gustaba mucho tener que ser mi chaperona todo el tiempo.  Yo creo que el traslado a Costa Rica ayudo un poco, ya que otras personas y en especial los maestros, no sabian nada de mi... no tenian expectativas de como tenia que ser o como debia comportarse.

Yo me case y me fui a vivir lejos.  Ella tambien se caso y las dos tuvimos hijos.  En los ultimos años nuestra relacion se ha vuelto mas cercana.  Hablamos regularmente y en mis dos ultimos viajes a Guatemala nos quedamos con su familia, y pasamos la mayoria del tiempo juntas.  Cuando no hablamos por un tiempo, la empiezo a extrañar.

Lo que me hizo pensar en escribir sobre ella es porque he estado pensando en ella como por una semana.  Hace 14 años ella se caso con una persona muy especial y la semana pasada fue su aniversario.  Yo me porte como una hermana horrible y no la llame...  he estado ocupada y estoy con la cosa de llamarla, pero se me olvida hacer un tiempecito.  Asi que ultimamente he estado pensando en ella mas que de costumbre.

Patis, estoy muy contenta de que nuestra relacion sea tan fuerte.  Tu amistad para mi es un tesoro y espero que sepas que te quiero mucho.  Feliz Aniversario!!! ...aunque un poquito tarde :)

 

My sister Patty is three years younger than me.  When we were little, we shared a bedroom, and there were constant fights because we were complete opposites.  I was extremely neat and she didn't quite follow my lead...  

My memories of growing up with her are a little mixed...  We fought like cats and dogs, but we also had great times, especially at night when we would talk for the longest time.  We would imagine all these things that we wanted to have, and we would keep adding to it, until we ended up with some ridiculous and unattainable things!  One of them was a camper that by the end had two levels and a sliding door that led from the master bedroom to a balcony where it snowed and we kept our Saint Bernard dogs.

The teenage years were a little harder as Patty tried to get out of my shadow, and I don't think she really enjoyed being my chaperon all the time.  I think that the move to Costa Rica helped a little, since other people and especially the teachers at school didn't know anything about me...  there were no expectations as to who she should be or how to behave.

I got married and moved far away.  She got married and then we both had kids.  Over the last few years we have become very close.  We talk on a regular basis and the last two visits to Guatemala we have stayed with her family, and spent most of our time together.  When I don't talk to her for a little while, I really start missing her.

What made me think about writing about her is because she has been in my thoughts for about a week.  14 years ago she married a great guy, and they had an anniversary last week.  I was a horrible sister and didn't call her...  I've been busy and keep meaning to call her, but forget to make the time.  So this time she is in my thoughts more than usual.

Patty, I am very happy that we have been able to become so close.  I treasure our friendship and hope that you know how much I love you.  Happy Anniversary!!! ...a little late :)
